What is it good for? Lots of things actually. Like padding the wallets of arms and military vehicle dealers. Thinning out the herd. And it sure slims up those election polls. And what of those on the front lines? What is war to them? Well having seen it I'll tell that it's not all it's cracked up to be. I'll tell you one thing war is good for: showing you who your friends are. For instance, when someone you have much care and respect for, who tells you before you leave to keep in touch, doesn't answer your calls or return your emails. Yes you certainly learn who your friends are. I have a freind who I've met in person once. Since I've deployed she's sent me letters, we talk on the phone, talk on-line, and generally "keep in touch." This boggles my mind that someone who for all intensive perpose I barly know can stay in contact with me but someone whom I've known for years now won't even send an email to see if I'm alive. It aslo amazes me that when I'm home from war for only two weeks that people seem to think i'm just going to rush around to try and see them and get offended when I don't. You really learn who your real friends are. The known here as "Mr. Hales" has kept in constant contact with me not only since I deployed but while I was still in the states even. When I came home he picked me up from the airport and took me to lunch. I have other freinds who didn't even call, but while on my way back to Afghanistan they wanna get all pissy because I didn't call them. Do you see something wrong with this picture?...
