What's the point?

Why are we here? I often wonder if the" creator" of the world thought man kind would turn out like this. Are we a disappointment? Just based on the happenings where I live, people suck. I used to be proud of this little po dunk town that I live, but now it's filled with people who don’t, either know how or don't want to parent their kids, so they run amuck, fucking shit up and stealing things. Not to mention the crack heads, drunks, and those that just don’t have any morals at all. What has happened to good, honest, hard working people that actually gave a shit? It's not just here, people are morally wrong all over, it's a bit concerning. So where is this going to lead us, where are we headed?? I don't know about anyone else, but i'm worried.

"Are you scared?  We're all scared.  You'd have to be crazy not to be scared." -- Major Chip Hazard, Small Soldiers

First, I would like to point out that this is a great post for the Forum.

Secondly, when we create enough poverty, everyone becomes a thief.  Every 1% rise in unemployment is followed by approximately a 20% rise in crime.  Combine that with growing discontent, hopelessness, rampant depression and you have a great atmosphere in which to produce massive crime waves, drug dependence on an unprecedented scale, and the total collapse of morality as more and more people become ever more desperate.

For an honest man who only wants to trade a fair day's work for a fair day's pay to resort to petty crime in a very short amount of time, that may very well be only the beginning of his fall.  First he steals, on a minor scale, perhaps embezzling at work or bilking the welfare system, just to keep the family fed.  The lengths that he has had to go to in order to accomplish so seemingly simple a goal depresses him.  He can't afford medication, so he drinks.  Eventually he drinks all the time, because he's upset all the time, and the family is evicted. Now, forced into more cramped conditions, nobody working, stuck in the house with nothing to do, the situation worsens as drinking and a sort of cabin fever help a once-gentle man become an abusive husband and father in very short order.

Yeah, it could happen just like that.  It probably has.

And his beaten children, low on self esteem and hating authority, get into their own sorts of problems.  More drugs, maybe more mouths to feed, perhaps their own crime sprees.

The third generation, poor and probably ignorant, raised in squalor, has very little hope of becoming anything but what they know, and what they know is poverty and misery.

And so the American Dream rolls on, as the wealthy steal from the poor a bit more every day.  The reason it's called a dream?

Because everybody is sleeping.

Wakey-wakey time, Humanity.  Time to wake the fuck up and stake our claim on Earth.  Because it doesn't belong to BP, AT&T, and Microsoft.  It belongs to us!  All of us.

No nations.

No religions.

No property.
