Rainbow in a Storm

The pain I feel is like raindrops on my soul

flooding my heart like a storm on a cold winters night

Lightning strikes as the tears spill from my eyes

Thunder booms as my heart beats

The wind blows like the whims of my mind

It consumes me as the waters rise and floods begin

The rivers in my soul rushing carrying me downstream

I begin to build my dam to contain the floods and free

the land of the vast destruction of my own heart

It's the only way to protect the last of me not destroyed by the storm

The storm inside me becomes stronger

my heart becomes weaker

my soul as dark as the night sky

I'm now consumed by the storm as the wind carries me to places I've not known before

It's dark and lonely and full of destruction as I walk along the path of the storm as it leaves behind debris and remnants of life passed and opportunities missed

I keep walking not seeing where I'm going only knowing where I've been hoping to arrive at the end to find a rainbow but feeling as if I'll come to the end of my journey only to find I'm lost within the labyrinth of the maze of thoughts and feelings created by my own joys and sorrows

Still I walk carrying all this with me as the raindrops fall on my face searching for the rainbow in the storm

Doubloons

May you find your rainbow.

And may there be a pot of gold beneath it.

I like the way you said that

I like the way you said that a lot. Searching for a rainbow in a storm is a great line..
