Super:Natural

Terminology for use with the Super:Natural Universe.

c
character

Any fictional entity in a role-playing game.  Often used to refer to Player Characters (PCs).

s
Stats

Relative scale representing a character's measurable physical, mental, and spiritual attributes.

e
Epoch

A great expanse of time.  Here used to describe the distinct cycles of life that tend to recur on life-supporting planets.  A world in its Third Epoch, for example, would have seen two prior cycles of life followed by massive, world-wide extinction events.

n
Natural

An un-augmented member of a Race.  In Human terms, Natural would describe an individual possessing no Powers:  a normal human being who may be exceptional but has no abilities that surpass human limitations.  Some beings take great pride in being a Natural.

p
Paradigm

A "layer" of reality.  Describes the set of laws that govern existence.  Generally speaking, a Paradigm is most easily defined as the "dimensionality" of a mode of existence.  For example: a realm that features length, width, depth and time (x, y, z, t) would exist in the Fourth Paradigm.  Please see the section of the Super:Natural source materials concerning the Known Paradigms for more information.

r
Race

In Super:Natural, Race is synonymous with species.  Please see the Race section of the Super:Natural rulebook for more information.

role

Generally synonymous with character, it is the personality a player adopts in a role-playing game.

s
Skills

A character's learned abilities.  These are added to their parent Stat to find Ability.  Please see the Skills section of the Super:Natural rulebook for more information.

Super

Individuals whose abilities exceed the natural limitations of their Race.  While not every Super is a hero (or villain), the large majority use their special gifts to greatly influence events.  Such influence may be on the personal, local, global, or galactic scale dependant upon the Powers of the Super in question and his, her, or its desires.

t
Type

A one- or two-word general description of a character.  Incorporates Prime Stat with core personality.  For example:  an Aggressive character whose Prime Stat is Dexterity would be a Daredevil.  Please see the Super:Natural rulebook section on Type for more information.
