Images

Sometimes it can be nice to literally illustrate a concept.  Now that we understand how to attach a file, it's time to do something with them, right?

Inserting an image is very simple:

  1. Click the Image button:
  2. Enter the URL of the image you want to insert.  The simplest method is to paste in the relative URL of an attached file.  This may be found directly below the name of the file in the File Attachments section located below the editor window.  Otherwise, if you know where an image is located on the server, you may enter it manually.  When you leave the URL field, the preview will update to reflect your selection.  If you see a red square with a white X in it in the preview area, the URL you entered is not correct.
  3. Click OK.

This results in the most basic image display.  The CKEditor likes to place images inside paragraph tags and so they will tend to appear by themselves separating the text above from that below.  You may click and drag images to a new position.  Large images will break the text flow no matter where they are place, however.

If you are not satisfied with this functionality and desire more control over how images will be presented in the content you create, you should continue on to the next page in this book.
