Founded in 1995 from the personal fortunes of the drug dealer James "Jimmy" Hayne.
Originally a genuine attempt at legitimacy, the company began as a private security firm created for good friends that moved in the legislature, intelligence
and counter-espionage circles.
ShadowCorp started taking contracts from the United States government -- and, much more quietly, those of other nations.
On the death of president and CEO Jimmy Hayne, the company rapidly changed directions. Branching out into the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Early adopters of the (reverse-engineered) neural interface technology developed by Robert Tasker, ShadowCorp has been in a bidding war and arms race
with Sine Technologic for several years.
The prize? The creation of a drone fighting force for the United States Army.
ShadowCorp was among the first companies to hire in Supers as private security forces (or a "corporate army" as the pundits often referred to the practice at the time) and was the first company to hire out Supers as both private and corporate security. The instant fortune and likely fame that became rapidly associated with "contract work" was a boon
to the growing population of Supers already struggling to find acceptance by a suspicious humanity.
Ironically, ShadowCorp's new business model of licensing persons, personas, and powers closely paralleled the early years of TMI's rapid success.
