Character Creation

Create a Hero In 7 (Supposedly) Easy Steps!

Please Note:

The rules of the Game are there for what experienced gamers often call balance. If one character in the party (group of player characters) dominates the rest in all ways, less empowered persons might feel a bit picked on or left out. Long hours of work have gone into the rules system, but somebody always finds a way to break the symmetry. Don't be that guy, okay?

Step 1: Create a concept.  A concept can be as simple as a couple well-chosen words or five pages long.  No matter the detail in the initial concept, you should know certain things about your character, such as Race, profession, Type, and maybe a couple of interesting personal details that will help flesh him, her or it out.  This is easier than it sounds, and harder than you think it is.  To do this, you must go away now.

Read a novel, play a game, put on some music, watch a movie...  do whatever it is that inspires you.

Remember this:  Starting characters will be either Naturals or recently augmented Super-Powered Beings, so keep that in mind when creating your Concept.  Every story has a beginning.

You may, at this point, find that your concept and "Human" don't mix.  No worries. Have a look at the available Races and see if any of them fit your idea.  If not, perhaps you could create your own Race (with Narrator approval, of course).  Be warned, there is a bit more work involved in creating a Race than one might think.

Step 2: Print A Character Sheet (Coming Soon!).

Step 3: Learn About and Pick Stats.

Step 4: Understand Skills...

Step 5: ...Then Get a Job!

Step 6: Time To Upgrade!

Step 7: Finishing Touches!

Now What?

Time to Play!

First, you'll need a gaming group and, especially, a Narrator. I can't help you with that one. Perhaps pay a visit to the local game store and tell them about this site?

Next, you should probably check out the section on The Known Universe and get a least a passing familiarity with the world in which your character will find him-, her- or itself.

Lastly, get yourself some dice, scratch paper, tokens, writing utensils, snacks, and a few hours to kill.

Is That All?

Of course not! This is, after all, a role-playing game, so a character will grow and change over time. See Character Advancement (Coming Soon!) to find out how it all works.

If you still haven't had your fill of all this, feel free to check back often, as the site grows and changes almost daily.

Have fun!  :-)
