Backing up several years ago
there was one actor at the movie show.
John Wayne's name was always on top,
The unbeatable hero no one could stop.
Yes at the time America needed the perfect fit,
like the character the Duke played in True Grit.
There were several names in the movies before John Wayne,
but with the roles he played he reached ultimate fame.
He was either a gentleman, Sheriff or in World War Two,
fighting for freedom for me and you.
Often he was the good guy wearing the white hat,
now the movie hero's are far from that.
They either have shaved heads or even tattoo's
and as far as good and bad it's hard to tell who's who.
But now that the Dukes gone we still remember his name,
and there's few homes without his photo in a picture frame.
